Helping to conserve the natural world (and therefore humankind)

Nature Travel Specialists believes that responsible ecotourism can highlight the need to conserve the world's natural resources, especially wildlife and flora. By enabling our clients to experience first-hand the natural world, we believe people will naturally want to protect the things they have seen. But in addition to this second-hand support of conservation, we support numerous organizations directly, with cash. These donations may flow as general donations from the company, or as individual donations based on our visitors to a country, region, park or protected area. Our primary supported organiation is Profauna Indonesia - please see a summary below, and a link to their website, or our ProFauna page here, to see how you can help this worthwhile organization.

All supported organizations set their own policies, and Nature Travel Specialists does not necessariy endorse all the actions they take. However, in our opinion these organizations are making a difference to the future of the world's wildlife. We urge you to visit their websites to see how you can help.

Birds Australia - conserving Australia's bird life. If you are going to Australia, and are wanting to see birds there, consider a donation to help the important conservation work Birds Australia has been doing, largely unsung, for over 100 years.

International Primate Protection League

International Primate Protection League - protecting primates worldwide. A grass-roots organization developed from the concerns of one woman in Thailand over 20 years ago to a major force in exposing primate abuses around the world, and getting something done about it. Based in South Carolina, and 4-star rated charity, you can also donate directly to organizations IPPL supports (such as Profauna Indonesia) in other countries via its US charity status.

Profauna Indonesia - a non-government organisation working for the protection of wild animals and their habitat in Indonesia. Profauna's activities range from identifying and bring to justice suppliers of protected fauna for both restaurants and trade, rehabilitating confiscated fauna and educating the public through a variety of means. Profauna contributes to IPPL's global work. if you are concerned about the destruction of wildlife in southeast Asia you can find out more and help this local, very professional organization on our dedicated Profauna page or at their own website www.profauna.or.id. Profauna is our primary conservation organization, and 25% of any commission made by us through our shopping sites - Amazon, ExOfficio and others on this site - is donated directly to them. Please support this worthy cause by clicking on the links on our site for any purchases.

The Ocean Conservancy has worked for over 30 years to protect ocean ecosystems and conserve the global abundance and diversity of marine wildlife. For centuries people have exploited the oceans with little thought to the future. Clearly, we can't afford to neglect them any longer. They provide much of the food we eat and the oxygen we breathe, and they are home to 97 percent of all living matter. Our very existence depends upon healthy oceans. The Ocean Conservancy knows that it is not too late. By changing the way people think about the oceans—valuing them for their beauty and diversity as well as their utility—we can turn the tide of failing ocean health. By inspiring people to speak and act for the oceans, The Ocean Conservancy is working to conserve and restore wild, healthy oceans.
