Guides make the experience real

We don’t believe in sending guides from the US, who visit but a few times a year. Our in-country guides were there yesterday, are there today, and will be there tomorrow, because they live there. We tend to use different guides in different parts of a country, for the same reason. But once again, this is not always the rule. If we feel the tour is better with the same guide throughout, that’s what we’ll do, usually picking up additional local guides as we go. This invariably means good guides, locally-based, who know and love their patch, and want to show it to you.

Our Amazon River guides are local Peruvians, trained in nature history, birding and wildlife. Their knowledge and enthusiasm is astounding, while they also supply a real contact with people of this beautiful and diverse country.
