Australia: Sydney
What can we say? The Sydney Opera House, the Bridge, the Harbour, excitement, history, food, wine, shopping, all in a setting considered to be perhaps the finest on Earth. White cockatoos, multi-colored lorikeets and fruit bats in the downtown park; ferries criss-crossing the harbor, the oldest building in Australia surrounded by hundreds nearly as old, Taronga Zoo perched on a cliff, innovative restaurants, Bondi Beach and others minutes away, and balmy, sunny weather. A great way to shake off the cobwebs of your longish plane journey is to get out on the harbour, and the most exciting way to do this is on an America's Cup yacht. 2.5 exhilirating hours of join in sailing - trim the sails, helm, grind the winches - or just relax while others do the work. The 1pm start makes it ideal for arrival day, which is always in the morning. On Fridays you can join in a match race, competitive sailing agains another "cupper." You'll be part of the team from go to whoa, including strategy and the sailing itself. Download a pdf of this great opportunity here: America's Cup Sailing on Sydney Harbour. If you took the best of the world’s cities, and put them in one place, you’d end up with something pretty much like Sydney.
